     First held in 1989, this is the twentieth year Weihnachtsmarkt has been a vital part of fund raising for the Sophienburg Museum and Archives.
 
     The 2008, Weihnachtsmarkt, will be held on November 21st - November 23d at  Kongresshalle (Civic Center) in New Braunfels. 
 
     Weihnachtsmarkt opens Thursday, November 20th with our Preview Gala event.  This is a formal preview party where party goers will enjoy private shopping, elegant food and beverages.  The holiday season is in full swing once this party begins at 6 p.m.  Tickets are $40.00 per guest or $75.00 per couple.  Reservations are required.      Come do your Christmas shopping at a German Market!  The market opens to the public at 10:00 a.m.  Friday when the patrons will experience carefully selected merchants in a beautifully decorated and themed setting.  The market hours are Friday 10-6, Saturday 10-6 and Sunday 11-5.  Tickets are $6.00 per guest for one day and $10.00 per guest for all three days. Children 5 years and under are free.  Strollers are extra.
 
     A tearoom. Sophie’s Kaffee Haus, will be located in the Main Hall  serving wonderful fare Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
 
     Children may visit and have their picture made with Santa.
 
     A silent auction will be held during the Gala event with items donated by each of the participating merchants.
 
     A raffle featuring selected gifts will be held.
 
   





Money raised through Weihnachtsmarkt has enabled the New Braunfels Sophienburg Museum and Archives, a non-profit organization  preserve and encourage interest in the history and culture of the New Braunfels area and to promote the communities historical legacy.
